From Myia’s Mom (aka Mama Bear) We have received some GREAT comments and we thank all of you. It’s so good to know I’m not the only dog lover out there that treats their dog as a member of the family 🙂
From Myia-Hello Tripawd family and thank you all for the warm welcome my family and I have received. I was progressing so good and then it started to go downhill. My mom allowed me to “lick my wound” some because that’s we do as doggies to help heal. Unfortunately, I got a little too lick happy and realized that my staples do actually come out. I pulled one out last night (I know, bad Myia) and my mom was a little upset with me. I knew she was upset so I didn’t talk to her the rest of the night. I didn’t even want to play with my fluffy doggie, bone, or my brother. Also I have been sleeping so much, it’s like I’m so tired.
When I first got home, I walked so good, you wouldn’t know I was a tripawd if you didn’t look closely. I started to actually “hop” 2 days ago and instead of walking up the steps like before, I started taking them 1 at a time. I also have stopped eating like a dog should especially knowing I need to keep up my strength and barely drink water, I only nibble. I had a few accidents in the house yesterday but Mama didn’t get mad at me even though I felt bad about it. Today as of 3:30 PM, I had only used the bathroom once and that was at 9 AM.
I also continued to “lick my wound” and then Mama noticed a leakage. She freaked out like she always does and called my favorite place (Doggie Spa & Retreat) Dr. Moseley at Hope Animal Hospital. I had to go in (because they love me so much and have called daily to check on me) to get checked out and I found that I had a 105 temperature. They also had to put a catheter and IV in me to push fluids and cool me down. Then they tried to spray the “Yuck” on me to keep me from licking the suture, but I cleaned that off like a champ. Mama didn’t get to see me before she left, I don’t think they wanted her to see me in this shape, remember I said she freaks out very easily. Dr. Moseley wanted her to leave me “overnight for observation”, but she assured Mama I would be sporting the “lamp shade (E-Collar)”. It also appears I may have an infection at the suture site which is where the major leakage seemed to be coming from.
I was doing so well and I guess I got bored and the hair growing back, the itching, I tried to scratch it the best way I knew how. I just didn’t know that licking could cause “leakage”. I will pass word on to Mama and she will relay the condition of me tomorrow. I WILL SURVIVE BECAUSE-I AM MYIA “FIERCE” (get it I am Sasha Fierce-Beyonce) 🙂
